Just Words 2

October 15, 2010

Lately I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting a lot of hits on my first Just Words post, so I thought I’d do another one.  Just Words are simple journaling prompts with no visual examples to influence you.  Follow along in your own way and we’ll compare results later in the week.

  • Write in your journal with a water-soluble medium, then blur your words with a wet paintbrush.  Use this as a starting point for your background.
  • Research ways to alter photographs.  Try at least one and add the results to your journal.
  • Incorporate moving parts into a journal spread.  Wheels, tags, flaps, or maybe moving gears?
  • Go small.  Create an ATC or inchie and put it in your journal.

I plan on trying all these in my latest art journal, which is for the sketchbook project.  I have a funny story about how I decided to participate in the sketchbook project, but I’ll tell that later in another post.  Right now let’s go forth and create!
