Workshop Weekly #5

May 14, 2011

This post is part of my 10 part series that tells you all about my online workshop building process.

Step Five–Getting it out…where?
Now that your workshop is ready it’s time to find it an online home.  There are many, many ways to do this.  Do your research and decide what is best for you.  Here are a few options to consider:

  • Hosting the workshop on a blog
  • Creating your own social network (ning, socialGo, etc)
  • Making your workshop available as downloadable files such as PDFs or videos.
  • Having your workshop hosted on someone else’s site (this is a good idea if you don’t have a huge following of your own, but it also means you will probably have to share some of your profits).
  • Hosting on a Flickr or Yahoo group

Be sure to pick something that is easy for you to operate and well within your price-range.  Secure the site, and start to set up shop.  Decide when you want your workshop to start and when you’d like to put it up for sale.  Go to your blog as soon as you pick the dates and announce them.  This will get people excited about your workshop and give you a deadline to stick to no matter what.  Check back next week for part 6!

ps, sorry things have been kind of quiet this week.  I have decided to pick up a new hobby–I’ll tell you more about it next week.  But don’t worry, it won’t replace my love for art journaling!
